No Label has carved out a distinct space in the fashion industry with a straightforward yet powerful mission: to offer high-quality menswear for everyone. Known for their commitment to exceptional quality and accessible style, No Label first teamed up with Ask Phill right after the pandemic, addressing the urgent need to enhance their digital storefront. In this initial collaboration, we transitioned No Label from a custom-built platform to a headless setup with Contentful as their CMS. The results were impressive – improved site speed, a revamped UX experience, and optimized customer journeys through extensive A/B testing. Building on this successful foundation, No Label and Ask Phill recently partnered on a new challenge: transitioning from their previous headless setup to a streamlined, native Shopify Plus platform. This move to Shopify Plus was a significant leap forward, promising to align No Label’s digital strategy with their core values of simplicity and quality. The transition from a more complex headless setup with Contentful to a more integrated Shopify Plus environment aimed at streamlining operations while maintaining the brand's aesthetic integrity. 

A new chapter in ecommerce excellence.

As the ecommerce landscape continues to evolve, so do the strategies we employ to stay ahead. The decision to transition No Label from a headless setup to Shopify Plus was influenced significantly by the advancements in Shopify's capabilities. For No Label, this move was particularly motivated by the need for an easier-to-maintain backend with less overhead, aligning better with the size of their ecommerce team.


With Shopify's continued investment in its platform, including the introduction of features like Shopify Markets and enhanced metaobjects, we recognized an opportunity to streamline No Label's ecommerce operations. The native Shopify platform now presented capabilities that once were exclusive to headless architectures, offering a more integrated, efficient, and cost-effective solution without sacrificing the flexibility and performance No Label required.

Our role was to ensure a seamless transition that not only maintained but enhanced the brand's online presence. We tackled their swift transition to Shopify Plus in just 4 months, to be ready for the Q4 peak ecommerce season. This quick turnaround required a strategic ramp-up in our resources, ensuring we met the deadline without compromising on quality. Integral to this process was the incorporation of tools such as Gorgias and Klaviyo, enhancing the customer service and marketing capabilities on the new platform.

With No Label's move to Shopify Plus, our team at Ask Phill was excited to implement a range of innovative features designed to elevate their online shopping experience.

One of the standout additions to No Label’s Shopify Plus platform was the new one-page checkout, introduced by Shopify in October 2023. This streamlined checkout process allows customers to enter and review their order, shipping, and payment details all on a single page. It's designed to make the purchasing journey quicker and more efficient, ultimately becoming a game-changer for conversion rates.

Another key feature we introduced was the look book drawer, available on both the collection page and the product detail page (PDP). Recognizing that many No Label customers enjoy shopping entire looks, this feature simplifies their journey. It allows customers to easily browse and select from curated outfits, enhancing their shopping experience and encouraging more comprehensive purchases. This integration of the 'shop the look' feature on No Label’s platform reflects our dedication to enhancing the shopping experience for their customers, catering specifically to their unique browsing and purchasing preferences.

In addition, we incorporated a real-time in-stock availability feature. This practical tool helps manage customer expectations by providing up-to-date information on item availability.

Key to our approach in overcoming these challenges was also the design process. The platform's design was crafted internally by our talented team members, Jaap and Paola. Their work focused on creating a design that resonated with No Label's minimalist and premium fashion ethos. This involved a careful blend of aesthetics and functionality, ensuring the platform was not only visually appealing but also reflective of the brand's identity.

In conclusion, No Label's decision to prolong their partnership with us, is a testament to our proven expertise and our track record in Shopify solutions. We've successfully aligned their digital presence with the exceptional quality of their clothing line, achieving a seamless blend of style and functionality.
